Description:

New Zealand 1985 Proof Coin Set - Seven Coins

Struck by the Royal Australian Mint, Canberra, for the New Zealand Treasury

New Zealand's proof sets from the 1980s are genuinely beautiful things. This seven-coin set, struck at the Royal Australian Mint in Canberra, celebrates the wildlife and cultural heritage that make New Zealand unlike anywhere else on earth. The reverse designs are exceptional. The Kiwi on the 1c. The ancient Tuatara on the 5c, a creature whose lineage stretches back 180 million years to before the dinosaurs. The $1 coin honouring the Black Stilt, a wading bird so rare that fewer than 100 individuals were known to exist at the time this coin was issued. These are not generic designs. Every denomination tells a story worth knowing.

Seven coins, complete, in proof quality throughout. Coins show mirror fields and frosted devices. Minor age-related wear is visible on the case edges and slight yellowing at the bottom rim, consistent with over 40 years of storage. Coin surfaces appear clean and undamaged.

Contents:

* 2 Cents (Bronze, 21.08mm diameter) - Golden Kowhai blossoms; New Zealand's national floral emblem

Completeness: Seven coins, complete

A handsome set with more character than most. The endangered species theme on the $1 gives it genuine historical interest beyond the coins themselves.
